Tell Aled what you need by phone, text, WhatsApp or email. A couple of photos, of the fuse board or the area you want work doing, usually let him price smaller jobs without a visit. Bigger jobs like rewires get a survey first. Either way you get the price in writing before anything is booked, and the person who quotes is the person who does the work.
It depends on the job. New circuits, fuse boards, EV chargers and rewires get an Electrical Installation Certificate. Smaller additions to an existing circuit get a Minor Works Certificate, and an inspection gets an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). Where the work is notifiable, Aled registers it with building control through NAPIT, so you also receive a building regulations compliance certificate.
It means Renovolt is assessed by NAPIT, a government-approved competent person scheme, and can self-certify notifiable electrical work instead of you paying building control to inspect it. Only very minor work. Anything notifiable, such as a new circuit, a fuse board change or an EV charger, has to be done by a registered electrician or inspected and signed off by building control. A handyman cannot certify it, and uncertified work can cause problems with your home insurance and when you come to sell the house.
