What Aled did
- Took out the old board: rewireable fuse carriers, hand-written circuit labels, tape on the case and a warning sticker already stuck to it.
- Took out the separate add-on RCD unit that had been fitted next to it.
- Fitted a new consumer unit in the same spot, with the cables tidied and clipped underneath.
- Tested the installation and labelled the board: Renovolt and NAPIT labels on the front, test date 27-11-25 and the next inspection due 27-11-30 written on it.

Why it matters
Rewireable fuses and a bolt-on RCD are a common sight on older boards in Pencoed and Bridgend. If yours looks like the before photo, it is worth getting it checked. A new board gives every circuit modern protection, and the label tells the next electrician (or buyer) when it was last tested.
