What actually drives the price of a rewire:
A like-for-like full rewire replaces all the fixed wiring, the circuits, the consumer unit and usually the accessories. A partial rewire does only part of the installation, one floor, the kitchen and bathroom circuits, or specific circuits an EICR has flagged, and costs less because there is less to do. Aled will tell you straight which one your house genuinely needs rather than sell you a full rewire when a partial one solves it, and the written quote spells out exactly what you are paying for.

A typical three-bedroom house is usually around five to ten working days, depending on access and whether you are living in during the work. Aled gives you a realistic timetable at survey stage and updates you daily as the job runs.
Not every house needs everything ripped out. Sometimes a partial rewire, a tired kitchen circuit, an old section, a board and a few runs, is all that is genuinely needed. Aled will tell you straight at the survey, rather than selling you a full rewire you do not need.
Rewiring means chasing cables into walls, which leaves marks. "Made good" means Aled patches and fills those chases back to a ready-to-decorate finish, dust sheets down throughout, so you are not left with a building site to sort out yourself.
You get a full Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for the new work, and the job is notified to building control through Aled's NAPIT registration. That is the paperwork your insurer, a future buyer or a letting agent will want to see.
A standard 3-bed rewire with Renovolt is about £6,500. That covers centre lights, white sockets, cables in surface trunking, a new fuse board, testing and the certificate. Allow about £600 for each bedroom over three, so a 4-bed starts at about £7,100 and a 5-bed at about £7,700 for the standard spec. Warning signs include black rubber or fabric-covered cable, an old fuse box with rewireable fuses, sockets set in the skirting boards, no earth on the lighting circuits, scorch marks, and lights that flicker or trip without a clear cause. The reliable way to know is an EICR, which tests every circuit and tells you whether the wiring needs replacing or just repairing.
Not just because of its age. PVC-insulated cable, used in most homes since the 1960s, can last well beyond 40 years if it has not been damaged or overloaded. What often dates a house of that age is the fuse board and the number of sockets, not the cables. An EICR will tell you which you are dealing with before you spend money.
